    COP15 Event Highlights Green Finance and Production Landscapes for Effective Area-based Conservation

    As part of the UN Biodiversity Conference (CBD COP15) in Montreal, UNU-IAS co-organised an event on 8 December 2022 focused on Other Effective Area-based Conservation Measures (OECMs). It explored the financial and economic factors affecting the identification, management, and effectiveness of OECMs that include human productive areas.

    COP15 Event Promotes Whole-of-Society Approach to Biodiversity Governance

    The IPSI Secrdtariat co-hosted a side event at the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP15) in Montreal, which discussed the whole-of-society approach to biodiversity governance as essential for realising transformative change. The session presented the findings of the report “Exploring Nature-positive Pathways” from the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency (PBL).

    IPSI Decade Report Launched at UN Biodiversity Conference

    The report provides an overview of the activities and achievements of the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI) towards realising the vision of societies in harmony with nature. Since launching in 2010 IPSI has grown to a network of 292 organisations across the globe working to foster sustainable human–nature relationships.

    COP15 Event Celebrates the First Decade of IPSI

    On 7 December 2022 a side event at the UN Biodiversity Conference in Montreal celebrated the first decade of the IPSI. The session discussed achievements to date and future priority areas, and launched the IPSI Decade Report 2010–2022, summarising activities and outcomes of the partnership.

    Workshops Refine Draft Manual for National Biodiversity Plans

    On 26 April 2022 UNU-IAS co-organised two online workshops to gather feedback on a manual designed to guide policy administrators in integrating landscape approaches into national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs). The event engaged Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) and related organisations, which provided comments and suggestions to refine the draft manual. The manual has been developed jointly by UNU-IAS and the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) with the support of the CBD Secretariat.
