Abstract
The project has achieved the following results, community entry and awareness creation was held in Anfoeta Tsebi comprising chiefs, community authorities, youth, men and women about the importance and benefits in conserving this sacred forest which protects the water source of their community, source of medicinal plants and habitat for animals and also shelter the community deity.
The project formed community resource management group and named it the CREMA group, the capacity of this group was built in landscape and resource management.
The project formed a nursery group of 30 persons, and nursed tree species of Mahogany, Ofram, Krokodua, Prekese, Acassia, Cassia and other indigenous species of about 150,000 for enrichment planting of the sacred grove and also as shelter in their cocoa farms.
In collaboration with extension officers of the department of food and agriculture, farmers were trained in SMART agriculture including organic fertilizer by harvesting their own urine, stored in airtight container for about 30 days and mix with water and apply it in their farms. This was a research conducted by the research unite of the ministry of food and agriculture.
The project has also introduced Village Savings and Loans scheme to the community members, which has started benefiting the CREMA group members. Though this activity was not part of the proposal, we deem it necessary to introduce it to community members.
The project has established a livestock rearing of goats as livelihood support for group members.
Enrichment planting of degraded areas of sacred grove is ongoing.
