G20 CORDAP Opens Coral Research Funding Opportunity
We risk losing 75% to 90% of the remaining coral reefs. Our window of opportunity for saving the corals is rapidly closing and we need innovative technical solutions and large scale wide interventions. The G20 Coral Research & Development Accelerator Platform (CORDAP) has launched its first funded call for proposals to make an impact in filling the gap between current and required capabilities to save the corals.
Successful applicants will be awarded funding up to USD$ 1.5 million per project, lasting from one to three years. The deadline for Concept Note Submissions is 1 November 2022, at 17:00 UTC. Q&A webinars will be held in October for submission assistance.

Global Consultation: Standards of Practice to Guide Ecosystem Restoration (SoPs)
In 2021, The UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration developed 10 principles for ecosystem restoration. To facilitate the application of these principles to restoration efforts, UN Decade partners are now developing standards of practice (SoPs) that provide key recommendations for the broad array of ecosystem restoration activities under the UN Decade, in all sectors, ecosystems, and regions.
A draft document is now available for global consultation, and the UN Decade is inviting all members of the restoration community to participate in the review process. The consultation will close on 24 October 2022 at 9 PM UTC.

Sundarbans and its Ecosystem Services
Sundarbans and its Ecosystem Services: Traditional Knowledge, Customary Sustainable Use and Community Based Innovation analyses the current state of the Sundarbans, its multiple values and ecosystem services, to demonstrate that Indigenous and local knowledge (ILK) is essential for the conservation and sustainable use of natural resources. Not only does this play an integral role in realising SDG 14 (life below water) and SDG 15 (life on land), it also actively contributes towards achieving many other goals and targets. It contributes a new understanding of sustainability by bringing human-nature relationships in view of the renewed interest in biodiversity and climate change— heightened by the COVID-19 pandemic.
