Objectives of National Association for the Conservation of Nature (ANCON) is conservation of biodiversity and natural resources of Panama for the benefit of present and future generations. ANCON works with local communities to provide the tools and knowledge required to execute activities that generate alternative and secure sources of income and in this fashion reduce the amount of pressure exerted on natural ecosystems due to unsustainable subsistence practices. Also, ANCON works with other non-governmental organizations, national government and the private sector to ensure the protection of Panama’s natural resources, ecosystems, biodiversity and maintenance of protected areas. ANCON is a manager of the Punta Patino Nature Reserve, a protected area of approximately 30,000 hectares of primary and secondary forest in the province of Darien, Panama.
