International Satoyama Intiative

IPSI, the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative, promotes collaboration in the conservation and restoration of sustainable human-influenced natural environments (Socio-Ecological Production Landscapes and Seascapes: SEPLS) through broader global recognition of their value.

29 September – 2 October 2018: The 7th IPSI Global Conference (IPSI-7)

the IPSI Secretariat will organize the Seventh Global Conference of the International Partnership for the Satoyama Initiative (IPSI-7) to be held in Kanazawa, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan from 30 September – 2 October 2018, hosted by the Ishikawa Prefectural Government.

During IPSI-7, we are expecting to share and exchange opinions and ideas on IPSI’s roadmap toward the conclusion of the Convention on Biological Diversity’s Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and post-2020 processes. We hope to examine how IPSI has been working toward our objectives as well as contributing to the Aichi Biodiversity Targets. It is expected that IPSI-7 will contribute to the first draft of a publication compiling the work of IPSI in the Decade and other outputs looking toward 2020 and beyond.

At this time, registration has been opened for IPSI members only using the online registration form here. Any non-IPSI members who plan to attend, please wait for further announcements about registration. The deadline for registration for IPSI members is Monday 4 June 2018.

Programme

Public Forum

The IPSI-7 Public Forum will be held 14:30-17:45 on Sunday, 30 September 2018 at the Kanazawa New Grand Hotel, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan, organized by the IPSI Secretariat with the Ministry of the Environment of Japan (also the financial sponsor for IPSI Secretariat activities including the holding of this conference), and hosted by the Ishikawa Prefectural Government.

The IPSI Public Forum serves a twofold purpose of: (1) strengthening collaboration and synergies among members as well as between the Satoyama Initiative and other relevant initiatives and programmes, and (2) enhancing understanding and raising awareness of the importance of socio-ecological production landscapes and seascapes (SEPLS). At IPSI-7, the Public Forum will serve as a place to exchange the diverse experiences of IPSI members and relevant stakeholders who are working on SEPLS around the world. In particular, this Public Forum will aim to review IPSI’s activities in the light of an assessment of progress in achieving the international commitments such as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Aichi Biodiversity Targets.

The Public Forum is open to the general public. Please use the registration form linked above to register.
